One of his hobbies is talking to everyone who comes into his store. He has found out a few people don't care for this, but that doesn't bother him. He loves to learn and might be caught with a book about a subject he does not yet know. You could also say biology is also his hobby. And Kisuke enjoys games as well. Any game, really. |
Kisuke was born to average Californian parents toward the southern end of the state. He grew up looking like a surfer boy but in all actuality he was the nerd sans the pocket protector. He loved science, especially biology. Kisuke wanted to know how everyone worked and how he could help those that didn't and he did. By the time he was sixteen he told everyone he read every book he could find on the subject (even though he didn't) and pushed himself so hard in school that he was able to skip a grade before he reached high school.
At the age of seventeen, he went off to college to study biology. This is where he met his mentor, a professor that was doing research on cloning human organs. These organs that were going to be used for transplants caused a lot of stir among the scientific community and beyond. Kisuke knew the problems --a lot of the money came from private investors, not from grants and a lot of people didn't believe what they were doing was right, so they tried to stop it any way they could-- when he worked on it as an undergraduate, but he didn't realize how much his mentor put up with until after his mentor died.
Kisuke was twenty-one and had been out of school for three months when he got the call to lead the project. He accepted even though he knew he wasn't quite qualified for the position, but only a few seemed to care about that. It wasn't until this point that everyone discovered the money for the project was not so slowly fading away. The bad press the experiments were getting started to scare the investors. Because of this, a good portion of his job was to find new ones and one of those new investors happened to be a beautiful young woman who ended up turning into more than just someone with a few dollars to give.
She wasn't alone.
The City Councilman was her boss and he wasn't the sort of man to be taken lightly. Kisuke was pushed unwillingly into a scandal which he never really cared to talk about. What was private was private and he tried to keep most of it that way even if some information happened to leaked out. Like all great scandals, this one lasted a while and, eventually, the young woman left. Kisuke didn't let the move get him down because he knew he'd see her again someday. The only thing that really changed was the fact that he kept himself even more guarded. And he made sure to keep a closer eye on everything around him to he could be two steps ahead of everything. He didn't particularly care for surprises that kept him in the dark.
By the time he was twenty-six he decided he had enough of that particular experiment and moved on to something low key. Through a series of thought processes, he decided to open a store close to Mishima University and stocked it with anything a college student and anyone else passing by might need. As of today, the shop takes in a decent amount of money and Kisuke is content to sit in or around the building day after day, talking to those who want to buy what he has to offer.
He doesn't mind if those who knew him think he has given up on biology. He knows they never really knew him to begin with. |
